You never know

My last post was several months ago wherein I was having problems with rapid heart rate. Well since then I learned that it was the rapid response. The tech that was checking my PM had a major attitude problem. She did not take the time to explain anything, had a problem when she finally did and when I asked about the problem she said it was PVCs and without asking, turned the rate response back on. I had major problems, thinking there was something wrong and finally after checking with my cardio doc and finally seeing this tech again, she turned it back off. It made a complete difference. I told my doctor what she did, the PM doctor what she did and told the hospital administrator. I do have another check up Monday and WILL not see her, but she is still there and I will see someone else. It is a shame and disgrace that you have to rely on someone like this who does not take the time to answer questions and has NO respect for that patient and gives you a reason to mistrust them completely. I wanted to share this with all of you to be very sure, your comments on my last posts were extremely helpful. So hang in there, and be very careful.

Doc should approve changes

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with the tech. Most of the techs I have met from Medtronic are very nice. My doctor does not allow the tech from the company to make any changes without his approval. He reviews all of the printouts of the settings before and after the check, and we go over all of the setting/readings together in his office after the interrogation. Your doctor should implement a procedure like that! I would not allow a tech to make a change without the tech explaining the reason to the doctor and getting approval.
