9 years on.......

Hi, I had my dual chamber pacman fitted in 2001 and reading through some of the comments, realise that most feel the same as I did in the early days after it was inserted.
9 years on and getting closer to a replacement, I find that the little reminders my heart gives me during the night or daylight hours is purely a reminder of how lucky I am to own my little "pacman" as he keeps me alive and we are great friends, just took sometime for us to adjust to the changes, but even those have not been too drastic....it does kick in quickly when I am stressed or tired from any form of exercise etc but now I know to expect it and the little shocks which do not hurt, are just a reminder that he is still looking after me....that is how I look at it and have coped these 9 years, having Mobitz type II heart block + Had this one in when I was 42 and although not looking forward to the exchange coming up, know that it is a blessing....:-)

Congrats and glad to see you have adjusted so well. I feel the same way and have only had mine since Feb this year. He keeps me aware of the same issue. I haven't hit the ground in over 8 years and haven't died a third time. I figure when I quit feeling him I will be headed home with the rest of my relatives who have passed. God has his plans and he hasn't unplugged me yet or let the batter run out.

Congrats again.

God Bless

I totally agree with you and could have not said it any better. I have had my "buddy" since April 2003 and have been glad every day. After a while you get so use to to it that you forget about it but then it has a way to remind you I'm still here and taking care of you.
I am glad you have had so many good years and pray that your replacement will be unenventful.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
