...new tests, more anxiety

Hi everyone...
I'm back into hospital tomorrow for an Adenosine Stress Test & Myocardial Perfusion Scan. Whilst I am keep to identify why I suffered from complete heart block and received a dual chamber pacer in July 2010, I fear I am starting to wobble again! Last night I was suffering from 'flutters' and my heart missing beats... felt like it was in my throat!!! Hoping I am just worrying, but also not trusting my body and frightened there is an underlying problem inside my chest... I know my questions will be answered tomorrow or on Friday's visit, but I expected/hoped that my life would have returned back to (almost) normal by now as I miss my exercise. Am I expecting too much of myself, or should I just accept that sometimes I'll skip beats, feel low etc?
Just tell me to 'get a grip' if that's the case!!
Cheers, Tim

the test.....

the test you will have tomorrow will only check for heart muscle blood flow. The doctor, after comparing the rest and stress images, will be able to see if there are any areas in your actual heart muscle that are ischemic (not getting proper blood flow). Do not mistake this for heart valves, or arteries. Just the heart muscle itself.

I work in Cardiology. Still, is a great test to have if you're worried about your heart function in anyway.

Hope your test goes well, and the the adenosine doesn't make you feel too awful. That exercise in a syringe can be rough on people, but it's a very fast acting drug and leaves almost as quickly as it's pushed in.

tests..

Hi Angelie,
thanks for your comments, reassuring. My cardiologist said he just wants to rule out any disease problems before letting me exercise, but I want to know why I keep getting irregular heartbeats and episodes of fast/heavy beats after simple tasks like climbing stairs! I am suffering from the seasonal cold, chesty cough etc, maybe that is contributing to my symptoms..
Thanks again,
Tim

Holter Monitor

If this continues (the irregular and skipped beats) I'd be asking to wear a Holter Monitor for at least 24 hrs.

When was the last time you had your pacemaker interrogated??? Perhaps you need a setting adjustment.

If you don't feel right, don't just sit back and think this is as good as it will be, keep pushing the doctors especially if you didn't feel like this prior to your pacer.

I've said it so many times and I don't mind saying it again: The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I had thumping & pounding heart beats - really hard, but not fast and I was also short of breath....it turned out to be that my Optimization was ON and for me it should have been OFF. Optimization is part of the Rate Response feature.

Take care,
Pookie

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
