Welcome to your new PM Club. This is a good, educated site to ask your questions. I do not know any answers to these questions, but when our morning comes, I know there will be people who will answer.

I see you are from Delhi. What kind of pacemaker (PM) does the Dr. want to implant? One or two leads?

Please wait a few hours and you will hear from some good people in the USA. It is our night here now.

Keep 'posting' and let us hear from you and what you and your Dr. decides.

Have a Great Week,

Well you asked for what I think so here is my unpolished opinion.

CHF - Congestive Heart Failure means your heart is unable to pump a normal amount of blood.

Dilated cardiomyopathy - means the heart is weakened and enlarged, and cannot pump blood efficiently. The decreased heart function can affect the lungs, liver, and other body systems.

Sever LV dysfunction - Sever left ventricle dysfunction means an impaired left ventricle that cannot not functioning normally.

LVEF 19% - Left ventricle ejection fraction 19% means this heart chamber is pumping 19% of normal amount and normal is considered to be 50% to 70%.

No, you don't need surgery unless you want to continue to live and feel better than you do now. Otherwise I think you had better listen to our doctor.

Anyway getting a pacemaker is not life-threatening surgery. But your illness is life-threatening.

Good luck with the surgery,

Smitty

Yes You Need Surgery

I have virtually the same as you. I have an ICT-D, which is a 3 lead device or pacemaker/defibrillator combo. My heart is pumping well on its own and could just decide to stop beating. I had the procedure done in February because basically, my doctors said the same as the above posters. Unless I had the procedure, I shouldn't buy any green bananas. It's not pleasant in the beginning and it's an aggravation but without it, I probably wouldn't be answering this post.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
