ePulse2 effective heart rate monitor

Before the implant of my PM, I used a chest strap hrm (heart rate monitor).  After the surgery the chest strap hrm gave improbable readings. During extensive research I found the ePulse (a wireless hrm) which worked well but eventually flaked out and was replaced under warranty, then the second unit failed. Without any other options I ordered an ePulse2 which has lived up to the promise of the original.

I am 60 and exercise heavily, 5 day a week biking and running 30 mins to 2.5 hrs. I highly recommend this product.

Use both Polar and Garmin

by COBradyBunch - 2011-06-02 04:06:55

I use both Polar (mainly for my spin classes and indoor workouts) and Garmin (mostly for my bike rides and hikes - can't run due to an incident with an SUV while biking last summer) and both work great. Of course I am paced only for 'heart naps' so I don't think I have ever gone into a pacing mode while using these but so far so good.

Polar HRM's seem to work okay

Someone explained to in nontechnical terms to think of Polar HRM technology as analog and to think of Garmin HRM technology as digital. I guess that makes it easier to see why my Polar HRM is not affected by the PM and why Garmin (and Suunto) is affected. We need to gang up on the ANT technology vendor to come up with a solution.

ePulse (HRM): update

My problem may be due to the fact that I am "pace maker dependent" (97%). The ePulse2 continues to work great.

You know you're wired when...

You prefer rechargeable batteries.
