Got a copy of my pacemaker printout

My Kaiser cardio nurse would not share a copy and instructed me to submit a formal request to medical records. She gets my Ken Kesey award for least likely to engage in patient education.

I called St. Jude's and the nice young man emailed me a copy of a recent report.

It shows vertical stacked bar graphs, with a bar for each day in July. The bars show amount of time at >80% max heart rate, at 60%-80% max (target zone), etc.

Because I keep daily spreadsheet logs for all exercise activity, I can relate the graphic data to my own notes.

The swimming and walking are excellent exercise, although faster walking would help. That karate class was too much time above the target zone. The week I spent day hiking in the mountains was a big goose egg as far as cardio exercise goes.

Clinics choose their report intervals

The data I got direct from StJ was from a monthly summary. Per the tech guy, lots of clinics choose the quarterly report where the exercise data are not necessarily in daily detail.

I think that those of us who care about exercise have a substantial interest in encouraging StJ to provide us with direct login ability to view our exercise data.

This approach seems better than us asking for routine clinic cooperation ... particularly in my case where the nurse chose to use StJ data to cement her petty position of control.
