Handling my situation

I am a 50 year male that had an ICD put in back in April. I've had to make some adjustments to my life that is really hard to make, like driving a bus for my church and christian school. I have checked with several people and websites about when to make the decision to give it up. I finally decided to go ahead and make the decision because I didn't want my church to get into trouble if anything happened while I was driving.

This truly changes your life. I had a job I loved and had to give that up at advise of doctors; drastically altered my life financially; can never get life insurance; feel like crap and can't enjoy most of the things I enjoyed so much. That's the downside...the upside is: I have more time to spend with my daughters ; I'm no longer a workaholic; I get to see more of my Grandson; we remember to say I LOVE YOU every day; I've learned to enjoy the most simple things again; my friends have shown me they are really my friends and I can count on them; I've prayed a lot more often; I've had an opportunity to see what incredible people my daughters have grown up to be; I found this board where I have someone who understands my fears and helps me get through the bad times..and I never even knew them until a few months ago; I don't take things for granted anymore...and I've alive to enjoy today and hopefully tomorrow. I always took tomorrow for granted before DCM. It can get us down, but it can't beat us.

surely you are safer now?

Hi! Double check the driving bit, its not likely that your pm will fail, obviously i dont know if youve got other heart problems but having a pm shouldnt stop you from driving
