Advice on horseback riding

Frantic over here wondering if I have to give up the horses..had a pacemaker put in 3 weeks ago. Both doctors I have seen, the surgeon and the cardiologist said horseback riding is to risky? I am really depressed about this..the horses are music to my heart and soul..I know I may have to change my lifestyle, meaning I can't ride the half broke horses etc..my business..but no riding all together?

Speakers should be ok as long as you aren't right on top of them. I go to concerts every chance I get and have only had a problem once. If you're feeling this long bad after, something else is going on. When something like a speaker interferes, it only can do it as long as you're too close to it. It can temporarily put the pm into test mode and limit pacing, but as soon as you get away from it the magnet can no longer hold the switch closed and it reverts to normal pacing.

You get the best concerts, lucky you! Keith Urban skipped Fl on his last 2 tours, Kenny and Brad both came this summer but when I was out of town. Haven't been to a good concert in a year now! (big pout)

Thank you for the information and I did notice some clubs were worse than others. I couldn't even be close to the bricks on the outside of the building. It must have something to do with the vibration also. I am to small for my PM so I'm having to do physical therapy due to the PM moving because my muscles are so knotted. I think if we can get the muscles around it under control, I will start to feel the pressure lift. I haven't been to the dr since it busted my incision last week. It is right under my armpit and I'm feeling a pinching feeling. I'm calling him Monday. And I was at CMA week in June and met so many stars. Then had to have the PM in July. So yes I am very lucky, but would hate to give it up. I went to Nicelback Tuesday and was fine, then downtown on Wed and I've been sick since.

Thank you

Some drs are more conservative than others but simply having a pm is not usually a reason to stay off horses. I would question the cardiologist if he meant forever or just until you're more healed. I'm on my 4th pm now, no other health issues and the pm fixes my heart problem, and I ride every chance I get. The only things I've been told to avoid (after 6-8 weeks healing) are things with magnets and anything that would risk a hard direct impact to the pm such as tackle football and karate. Good luck!

Ask them about a nice gentle ride later down the road after healing.
3 weeks is to short to put a strain on your leads which is why I guess right now they are saying no.

speakers

Is this so with speakers also? I live near Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital of the world, and enjoy going downtown listening to music. It's been my passion my whole life. I've only been twice since my PM July 15, 2010 and I've gotten really sick both times. I'm still sick from going on Wednesday. I'm hoping and praying this goes away with time, it is my passion and I've never been afraid of anything. However, I'm scared to try it again. Thanks!!

Listen to your Dr's. My Dr. said I should be back to my daily routine in 6-8 weeks after my ablation/implant.

We have a ranch. We have to ride to find our animals, round up, and for fun. After your 'leads' settle in, this should not bother you. I don't know that I would want to 'barrel race' or 'bulldog' though. This ol' Grandma had no trouble riding horses w/my 'energizer bunny' ~

Another thing which has been most helpful to me ~ Listen to your own body ~ Your body is constantly telling you what to do/not do and how you feel. If you feel a 'tug' or 'twinge' or other ~ call your Dr.

Life is toooo short to quit living ~ ~
