funny sensations

Hi
I had a pacemaker inserted just over a week ago. I do feel fantastic since however, I have a funny feeling in my neck, sometimes its tickle-ish and makes me cough.

is this common or should i be discussing with the Cardio team.
thanks
AP

I had something similar

I'm sure someone else will be able to chime in to explain what is causing it, but I will say I have experienced the same thing, and when I described it to my nurse practitioner, she immediately knew what was causing it, made an adjustment in the pacemaker settings - and it went!
So, although I can't remember what caused it, it is definitely something you can talk to your Cardio. team about.

Strange feeling in my neck

I also had a strange symptom right after my implant. I would get sort of a tightening feeling from the bottom of my neck on the one side ip to the bottom of my chin. Not sure if that is what you are feeling but it went away on it's own after a few weeks. Glad to hear you are feeling well otherwise!

Take care,
Heidi

Am so glad I read your comment to AP about the tightening in your neck. Mine started two days after my pacemaker was installed. Went from my jawline to about the middle of my chest. I feel this was due to cutting thru the muscle and the pulling and tugging the doctors did when putting the pacemaker in. I pretty much stayed awake during the procedure and could feel alot of pulling and shoving and tugging. I believe any time your body is treated like this you will have to give it time to recoop. Mine is much better now. It's been one week ago today since my pacemaker was installed.
AP, do you have a post op examination soon? I would just memtion that to the doctor. But I bet it has something to do with the trauma of surgery.
Good luck in a fast recovery!!!!

thanks for the reasurrance, yes, it does feel like a tightening, i had the procedure on 21st September so I suppose it's early days....

I just cant believe what a difference this has made, I can now walk upstairs, and from one end of the office to the other without stopping ( yes - I have ventured back to work last Monday).

best wishes
