Hi everyone. This is such a wonderful site. Everyday after work I can't wait to get homeand read the messages. I am 42 years old with a CRT-D,post 6 months. I am really scared because I am have neck surgery on March 8th. That is how they found out that I have Severe Cardiomyopathy. My cardiologist was putting my surgery off hoping my EF would increase. I was at 10% when they found out I had a problem,it is now around 25% after 3 months on medication and a CRT-D for 6 months. I have been having increased heart rate just out of nowhere lately but it is not showing up on the pacemaker check. I am pacing at 100%. He says maybe someday we can cut back on that I sure hope so. I was told during surgery they would cut the defibrillator off and that is what scares me but I have no choice about the surgery because I am in severe pain after I got rear ended 3 weeks ago by a teenage girl that was texting. Has anyone had this procedure done and how did you do? Have a great nite.

I had neck surgery last March, however, I have a pacemaker and am only dependent on it 89% of the time.

I don't have a clue what they did (if anything) to my pacemaker when I had my surgery because I was put totally to sleep.

I was 42 as well when I received my pacemaker:) - that was back in 2004. Kind of through me for a loop but I'm doing so much better now.

Well, I am sure you'll do fine with your neck surgery, as I'm confident the surgeon wouldn't be doing it if you were too high of a risk for the surgery....right?

I didn't even look to see where you are from, but here in Nova Scotia, Canada....you are not allowed using a cell phone while driving....hopefully some day soon this rule will be world-wide.

Keep us posted when you can.

Take care,
Pookie

Thanks

Thanks for the posting. I read a lot of your comments on the website. You seem like a very caring person. It is good to be able to communicate with people that have been thru the same thing and give you knowledge of what to expect and how to cope. I am from Memphis,Tn. Thanks again for the comment.

thanks pookie

and hi sonya. I'm waiting to go for neck surgery as well, parathyroid and thyroid tumour, should know in a couple of weeks what they are going to do. Pookie you have put my mind at rest a bit as well, thanks. Sonya I hope things to well for you, and I hope that your insurance company and the police are throwing the book at the girl who hit you.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
