Ultram

Went to the doctor today for pain in PM site from last surgery in May. Not getting used to this thing in my abdomen instead of my collarbone area at all! Area is very tender, painful and also having pain from thoracotomy (too many complications last time!). Dr prescribed Ultram every 6 hours and said for next 2-3 weeks I am to do no lifting, pulling, pushing etc... (sorry honey can't make the bed) basically I have to take it easy for a few weeks and go back in.
On a good note the PM is working good! And I gained 9lb out of the 22lb I lost. YEA

Ronaldo - The drs had to put it in my abdomen because of all the scar tissue I have in collarbone area. If you look under Complications it tells alot about my history. I have had a lot of complications to say the least. This was my 28th procedure since 1993. Other than my neck the abdomen was the only place to put the PM. I haven't figured out what the advantages are to it being there besides the fact I am alive, disadvantages are it is in a very tender location - I am very thin so that certainly doesn't help any. I have an incision below the heart next to the left rib cage area where the PM is placed. The wires were tricky for the doctor to place and I had to have a thoracotomy to place them.
I did tell the doctor today if we have have to move it again I want one in each butt cheek so I have buns of steel!

So sorry to hear you are still in pain. But I must say you have a very good attitude about the entire thing, which in my opinion, is half the battle.

Hopefully with a lot of rest and very little housework, you'll be back to feeling a lot better soon.

Take care,
Pookie

You know you're wired when...

You need to be re-booted each morning.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
