pinching between shoulder and pacemaker

Does anyone else have pinching between the shoulder and their pacemaker. I know that sounds like I am some kind of contorsionist but I have rheumatoid arthritis and any swelling of my shoulder causes some nerve or my meat to become pinched between the shoulder swelling and the pacemaker which in turn causes enough pain to cause me to vomit. I have lost 6 pounds since I returned to work on the 25th. I need to lose weight but this is not the way I want to do it. Is there anything I should be doing that I am not? I have an appointment with the rheumatologist on the 17th but in the meantime I am really hurting here. My doctors knew that I use my arms and hands for a living, the failed pacer site was in a totally different position a lot farther away from my shoulder joint. I think as close as this is to my shoulder, that it would hit with pulling a shirt off with the old cross arm technique, but since I have been being careful since implantation, I don't know. I have to earn a living. I don't want to have more work done but I need not to have pain this bad. Any Ideas?

The best approach is to let your doctor know that the current implant situation isn't workable. Be prepared for the doc to try giving you a pain med, which has side effects and isn't a permanent solution. Also, realize that the only fix may be another surgery.

Best of luck,

pacemaker pain

hi ya i had my first pacemaker fitted at the age of 32 and it was very painful and always caught on my collar bone they had to remove it 6 months later and implant a smaller box , I still have trouble with pain and bad scar tissue and they put me on tablets for nerve pain which happen to be anti epileptic tablets not sure if they help with the pain as they knock me out lol . I am always being told by the hospital staff that people with pacemakers forget that they have them so i must be one of the unlucky ones lol hope you get it sorted soon

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
