25 years old Pacemaker

Hello,

I got my pacemaker almost 19 days after my 25th birthday this year. I’m gettin it adjusted cuz now my heart rate is too fast. I was diagnosed with an av blockage. I had it since birth and it’s been undetected until then. Parents had no idea.

I’m glad there is a site where I can come and talk and help other people who have pacemakers and other devices. I hope we will grow stronger together.

AV block only affects the connection between the atrium and ventricles. What you may be experiencing as too fast may be normal, but with years of block you are used to a very low rate. Typically with AV block you will have a HR in the 30-45 range and which doesn't change with exercise.

So bottom line don't get into the thing of having adjustments made to keep your normal atrial rate from getting though to your ventricles. This together with meds can turn a simple problem into a life time of problems.

best of luck,

frank
