Weird feelings

Hi everyone! I had a ICD implant 6 weeks ago, and have returned to work a week ago. Today I have been feeling some pain, tenderness and burning around the site of the implant. I'm a cashier at a local supermarket and realize not scanning for a month I' going to be a little stiff, but this does not feel right. Is it normal for me to feel these feelings or should I be concerned, could there be a problem. Love to hear from you all. Beachbum

How active have you been with the arm on the pacemake side? If you have been extra careful in following doctors orders you may have developed some adhesions in the pocket. The wider range of motion while scanning can break them loose which isn't very comfortable.

I would try doing some gentle range of motion exercises at home to free things up. If it continues to be sore then contact the doctor.

I had mine implanted 6 months ago and still feel some burning and tenderness in the area. I just figure its normal and something I have to live with. Nothing that I feel alarmed about but I definitely know something is there.

Love your name by the way :)

I just wanted to let you know I can relate to your discomfort. Interesting you posted tonight. I have a heating pad on my site right now. I had my PM relocated a week ago and today was the first day I felt comfortable being active. So...the house needed to be picked up, laundry done, kids beds, etc. And now paying for it. I think I "milked" my recovery a little too much and then pushed a little hard today and have the same feelings you are experiencing.

The movement in cashiering puts a lot of strain to your upper body. Try to take it easy and as EF suggested do some stretches and see if that helps.

Take care,
Heidi

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
