Did I goof

It's been a month since I got my pacemaker. I have had some concerns lately that I might have pulled a lead wire loose. Is this possible? I try to comply with all that has been expected during recovery but sometimes I forget and do something (like lifting too much weight or pulling myself up). Generally I have no specific symptoms of discomfort but there are times when I do have problems

Have a Checkup

Hi
I did the same as you but after only 3 weeks lifting heavy box,s had a sharp pain at wound site but felt fine after, the next day still felt fine but poped into casualty for advise they gave me an x-ray a check up and 10 mins later I left assured all was ok. I am sure you are fine but if it is worring you A&E will reassure you are ok.
My Op lasted 3 hours no sedation left Hospital same day recovery took 4 months now no discomfort but still a little tight, strange feeling when you can feel this box just under your skin dont you think.
stay well

Get It Checked Out

You're probably OK but better to be safe than sorry. I'd get it checked out.

probably not

If your hr is ok, your lead is more than likely just fine. If it's out of place, it won't be able to pace. What problems do you have? Odd minor aches and pains are a normal part of healing.

You're probably OK

It's not unusual to accidentally make a "forbidden" movement. I've read in this forum about people who sleep with a sling on their arm for a short time after surgery. No one at the hospital mentionned anything of the sort to me and I know that I toss and turn at night. So I probably did all sorts of things I shouldn't have - without consequences. I also know that more than once, without thinking, I raised my arm to get an object on a shelf.
I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you feel some noticeable symptoms: dizziness, shortness of breath, syncope, etc.
I suppose that you have a follow-up scheduled with your hospital in the coming days / weeks. At that time, they'll check your pacing. I hope that will reassure you.

Edouard

Very unlikely

Lifting something or pulling yourself up is very unlikely to cause a lead problem unless you raise the pacemaker arm over your head. It's a good idea to use care in this area, but I would bet almost all of us forgot at some time or other.

I agree with others that if it concerns you give the docs office a call though.

You know you're wired when...

You prefer rechargeable batteries.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
