Leads pushing on nerve (?) causing pain

Hello all,

I'm new to this site and apologize if I'm asking a question that's already been answered on here somewhere.

I've had my PM for almost 5 years and until recently, I haven't had any issues with it. However, the past couple of weeks I've been experiencing a lot of pain in the area around my shoulder and when I use my left arm "too much" it turns red. My doctor said it had something to do with the lead pushing on a nerve or something?? I'll be going back in a month for testing, but in the meantime, I wanted to see what kind of information I could find. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and has any information to provide, that'd be great!

Thanks!

Your shoulder turns red??? How red? Like sunburnt red??? Bright red???

Not to scare you, but I have been told numerous times (because I had extreme and chronic pain in my shoulder for a # of yrs after my pacemaker) that if it turned bright red like a really bad sunburn, that MAY indicate a sign of a blood clot.

My chronic shoulder pain turned out to be a 50% torn rotator cuff. Ouch, ouch, ouch. I'm doing exercises right now to build up muscle as to avoid surgery:)

When your doctor told you it had to do with the lead pushing on a nerve....how did he come to this conclusion????

And this doctor, is it your family doctor or your cardiologist? Regardless, in my opinion, I would NOT be waiting a month....as what kind of testing are you exactly waiting for? .... I'd be asking for a CT scan and/or an ultrasound asap.

Why do you have to wait? I understand if you live in Canada, like I do.....:) but in the meantime, couldn't you at least get an Xray?

Anyways, I'm just guessing and thinking out loud. But I sure would like to know what test you are waiting for if you don't mind me asking.

Take care,
Pookie
