It is a very happy Holloween

I had my pacer friend read last week. All is well The only concern was my rate drops are still high. Over 500 per 6 month reading. But the good news is I almost never know when the rate drop kicks in and in the last 6 months never had a passout or even a dizzy spell. So I am good to go for another 6 months. No changes in programing nessecerry. The on the 29th I celebrated my 3rd. birthday with my pacer friend. My wife said she was so glad I got over the terrible 2's. But I think I will be just as onery as a 3 year old. We have to have our fun. I hope all of you are well and making out ok in this tough economy. Hang in there and be sure to Vote if you live in the US. I will be checking back in soon to see who is new and catch up with the old members. Glad to see a post from you Jessie. Send me a privat message about your cruise. I will do the same. Bowlrbob

Rate drop

This is a condition that some, probably most people who have Vaso Vagal Syncope have. The Vagus nerve gets over-stimulated and this results in your heart rate dropping very fast. In my case my heart wants to stop. So the pacemaker has what is called a rate drop response mode in it. When programed it kicks the heart rate up faster when it senses a dramatic drop in heart rate. In my case when my heart rate drops 25 bpm or more in a pre-prescribed time frame. My pacer kicks my heart rate up to 100bpm for 2 minutes. This gets the blood pressure up quickly and keeps me from having dizzy spells. This was programmed 2 and 1/2 years ago by my EP and has worked perfectly. I have had no bad spells since. Bowlrbob

Forgot to mention after the 2 minutes at 100bpm the pacer goes back slowly to it's permanent setting of 70 bpm. Pacers are a wonderfull device. Bowlrbob

Tell your wife she can look forward to adolescence!

That 500 rate drops were times that wouldn't have gone so well without your friend!

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
