I won!!

I know most of our group probably does not bowl but for those of you who do. I gotta tell you my story. I have bowled ten pins all my life from age 11. I am in 4 different halls of fame. I write a Q. and A. national bowling column that is in newspapers (bowling) and web sites all over the country. Three going quickly on 4 years ago I almost died because my heart decided it did not want to beat anymore. But with a combination of luck and good people and Drs. helping me I pulled through. Of course I did not think i would bowl anymore or work or anything my life as I knew it was over. Well I got back, I still work and it is hard work especially at my age 67. I install carpet and Vinyl. Tough work but it pays well. I still bowl and have won several tournaments since my episodes. But today was the best I was in a small tournament in our town. It is a match play tournament single game elimination. This means one loss and you are out. I won this tournament. Now that by itself is fine but no real big deal but here is the kicker. I have bowled in 4 of these tournaments over the last 2 years and today's win was # 4 in a row. That means that after today I won 28 games in a row for the 4 wins. In our sport at any level this is unheard of. I feel so great about it I needed to share with my pacer friends. I tell you guy's this to let you know there is life after PM. That you can be as good or better than you ever were. This was an any age tournament and so far a senior with a PM is showing the youngsters how it's done.
Sorry to carry on but This is a great accomplishment for me and I needed to share a good PM story. Just because you need a little help to keep your hear beating does not mean your life is over. It is just beginning. Bowlrbob

This was such an awesome story to read. I'm so excited for you and your accomplishment in the bowling sport. How awesome you must feel to win that many games. I use to bowl, but I had to give it up, my highest game score was 243 my average was 200 back in my primes. LOL! I sometimes go with the kids, but they don't like me bowling because they say I'm too good. I tell them if they can beat me I'll give them some extra money for the arcade, of course they never beat daddy, but they still get the money. It gives me a chance to play them with out them feeling bad. Okay, thanks again for your story and keep it going lady, Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great story and inspirational.
I've been selected in a state team squad for croquet for the coming season & I was wondering if I'd make it.
You've really encouraged me to keep trying.

It Is Just Beginning

by SMITTY - 2009-07-20 10:07:16

I hope we all remember this statement from Bowlrbob "Just because you need a little help to keep your heart beating does not mean your life is over. It is just beginning."

Then hereafter when a newbie posts a message showing concern about their getting a pacemaker we will quote it to them. That truly says it all. Thank you Bowlrbob.
