Curious

Anyone else have a check-up with the computer at Cardio office and hear " You had 2 "episodes" and they were able to tell me exact date & time. Technician told me not to be concerned. Should I? I did not see the Doc that day.

No Need For Concern

by SMITTY - 2011-02-27 03:02:36

Hi Rip,

The next time you are told this, ask what were the episodes as the tech should be able to tell you. But I don’t think there is any need to be concerned until you can talk to the doctor. Did the tech tell you how long ago the episodes occurred?

I’ve had a pacemaker for 11 years and get a checkup at least every three months. It is seldom the tech does not report that my pacemaker recorded an episode of some kind. They also tell what that episode was. Only once have they told me I needed to talk to the Dr and an appointment was made for me for the next day. They would have made the appointment for that afternoon but I had plans and the episode occurred more than a month before I had the checkup. My thought was it happened that long ago and didn’t bother me so I’m not going to be jumping through hoops to see the Dr right now. Anyway my pacemaker’s primary job is to give me a stable and regular heart beat. These recordings are just a bonus from the pacemaker and not necessarily diagnostic information since we learn of them after the fact. Sometimes long after the fact.

Ronaldo,

Episode, event, occurrence, as frequently used on the Pacemaker club, are synonymous.

Hello,

My last check up they were able to tell me I had a maybe an 8 second "episode"- I have a planner and was able to remember the day and know almost what I was doing at that very minute- I think It was from a police detector in the car- so in the future- write down what you do in a day- it may help. Then know to avoid it in the future.

Wow

Reading all these posts I realize I've never been told of an episode unless I ask. Not good right? And when I asked if they could find out when pacer does it's self check tech couldn't find the page on computer to do that......another not good.

Ok, 4 years later I'm still learning and realize in certain areas I've been too trusting and complacent with the tech.

Smitty ya got me thinking....which is good!

thanks........Sue

i had loads at first!

Hi! I had over 1000 episodes of atrial fib in one 6 months, about 800 in the next, and none in the last six months. It went away on its own.

Thanks

Great response...from all of you. I appreciate your feedback. Not fear! Used to jump out of planes ( although...that was FEAR ). More of a concern. Just want to try and get a few more years in. Glad we all have this type forum to learn and share. We are a small group of people who share a unique "life style " ? Stay healthy...all of you

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
