Just wondering if it is normal for him to be tired ally and he started with a cough on sunday night will this effect the leads of the pace maker? Father Coughing

Hello Sarah

Welcome to the Pacemaker Club.

Unless your father is coughing very, very hard it is not likely to affect the leads. I have heard a few people report developing a cough after getting a pacemaker. This is usually corrected by an adjustment in the pacemaker settings.

Also, is your father taking any kind medications for his heart? One type of medicine called an ace inhibitor, is well known for causing a dry hacking cough. Ace inhibitors come under several different names. Ace inhibitors have also been known to cause severe fatigue.

You say he got the PM on 11-24 which is not very long ago. If the pacemaker is causing any of his problems they are not likely to get better with time so rather than guess why he is in pain or uncomfortable give the doctor a call. If PM settings adjustments are necessary they take only 15 to 20 minutes and is about like getting an EKG.

Good Luck,

Smitty

Hi Sarah

What were your fathers symptoms before they diagnosed him with the vasalvagal syncope?

Vasalvagal Syncope

Hi Sarah,
As said above, sometimes the settings need adjusting but don't worry too much otherwise.

I also have malignant vasovagal cardioinhibitory response syndrome too!- I've never come across anyone else with it yet.

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
