tattoo, chest poking out, please answer

i am rob, i am a white 24 year old male, i drink beers on weekend and go out in DC regularly, as i am from falls church Virginia and live here now. i am not as much of a drinker as much as i like to smoke the dank pot, i am sorry to offend people who disagree with this but for anyone who has an open mind and can differentiate between reefer and hardcore drugs. will the marijuana affect your boys heart/pacemaker? i feel like i will end up with a box poking out of my chest and no girl will want to touch my chest, also i have a tattoo on my right peck - what do you think? for real?

Drugs

Hi orakpo98
I've already responded to your similar post of December 17. You've added a new element, however and that is your use of marijuana.
You'll want to ensure that your surgical team is well aware of this situation. I've read that the use of recreational drugs can affect your body's reaction to anaesthesia. You'll want to avoid a situation where the surgeon starts cutting and you've developped a resistance to the pain killers. If the anaesthesiologist is aware of your situation, he will adjust the dosage accordingly.

Pot and Pacer

by ElectricFrank - 2010-12-18 12:12:55

Hey, I'm not offended by those who smoke pot, but I wonder if you weren't a bit stoned when you wrote your post. It's hard to make sense of it. I'll try though.

Girls, alcohol, and pot will all affect your body the same with or without a pacer. The pacer isn't a large box, but is visible, unless you have it implanted under a muscle.

How it affects girls opinions of your chest depends on how sexy your chest is.

So did I answer your questions?

best,

Pot and pm

by lc25 - 2010-12-20 01:12:18

Hey Orakpo,

I agree with Edouard that you should definitly mention to your doctors that you frequently use pot because it's always a good idea for them to know everything that is in your system. Just be honest with them, they are not going to judge you. I think in the long run it may be a good idea for you to gradually start cutting back on the pot smoking. I dont think it's horrible for your heart, but it's certainly not great for it. And since you are already having heart problems, I think it is in your best interest to stop. The tattoo should not be an issue because most likely the pm will be implanted into your left side, but check with your doc. Lastly, I know it's hard at your age, but I wouldn't worry about girls. If someone is going to judge you because you have a pm, then are they really worth being with anyway? And if you already have a girlfriend, i'm sure she loves you for you and won't leave you because you get a pm. And if not, then you are better off. Hope this helps! Keep us updated

Tattoo PM Guy

Pot will not help your heart or your health, you should refrain from any substances that reduce your health!

Anyone who smokes Pot with a PM has a death wish!

Ask a Doctor

You're going to get a different response from everybody on here and it's almost entirely people's opinions rather than fact. When it comes to marijuana, very few people are able to look at it objectively and provide an unbiased answer.

Most people decide how they feel about it and then base their answer of their opinion of it, not the facts. For instance, people who have never smoked it always can go on in great length about the effects of marijuana and how dangerous it is and how you have a death wish if you smoke it. People who smoke marijuana will go on and on about how safe it is and how it cures everything and blah blah blah.

I asked my doctor and he told me that a pacemaker is a machine and doesn't care what's in your bloodstream. Marijuana cannot interact with a pacemaker. It will elevate your heart rate when you smoke it and depending on what condition you have that may or may not be a concern for you. Also, it can cause paranoia and panic attacks if you're not used to the effects or consume too much, which can cause your heart to race, have irregular rhythms or can cause irregular breathing. Like alcohol, be responsible and use moderation.

Most importantly ask your doctor, don't take mine or anyone else's word for it. Marijuana has become so common and widely accepted as a very low risk controlled substance, just like alcohol, that most doctors will talk with you honestly about it and save the lectures for more serious problems like cigarette smoking and prescription drug abuse. Ask your doctor, I did.

Regarding girls and the tattoo and your chest and everything . . . grow up. You're being a douche.

You know you're wired when...

You can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
