Appointment

I had my first appointment after my PM placement. The appoinment went well. I went to the PM clinic first and they tweeked me up or down, whichever it is. They took me out of the 80’s and put me into the 70’s. Told me the leads did not come loose.

Then it was over to the doctor’s appointment.  He told me I did well. He’s taking me off  coumadin and giving me that new drug Pradaxa. He will see me in 6 months. I will get tweeked again in 2 or 3 months. Of course he told me I need to start taking walks.  All in all everything went well.

Smitty, you out there? I almost got caught whith that blue special fabric sheet.

praxada

Thanks for writing. I have not started the praxada yet since I still have coumadin left. I did receive the praxada thru mail order. I was able to get a 3 mo. supply for $50.00 thru my work pharmacy which is a good deal. If you get it monthly it could cost $70 per month. I was told it's been used in Europe for many years. It will be strange not having it monitored. I will give it a try though. If you can read a couple of my posts you will see that smitty has a great sense of humor. He did help me. I will let you know when I start the new drug

Pradaxa ~ ~

I had my ablation/PM implant on 10/09. Not knowing and still not knowing anything much about the Dr. & everyone else 'posts' on the PM Club site, I read/scan frequently to learn more on this great site.

I developed DVT and after having the blood clot removed from my right leg, I was placed on Coumadin/Warfarin. Which I was on for almost a couple of yrs.

I started Praxada on 11/5/2010. So far, I can not tell the difference, but always have the fear of the UNknown from not having the old INR blood checks every week/month.

Just was wondering how you are doing with Praxada? Here in Central Texas, the drug was so new, the pharmacies did not carry it, but Walgreen's special orders it once per month for me. The pharmacist had to read the computer directions/'poo-pah' the same time I read them @ the drug store w/her.

My cardio/EP Dr's. nurse called around & found the cheapest price from many pharmacies in the area and found that Walgreen's was about $45.00+ cheaper.

"Blue special fabric"? I could never have done w/o Smitty these last few years ~ he and others helped me thru my nerve crisis' and ablation/PM implant.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
