Flying

HI all, I'm going to be flying for the 1st time with my new pm. Do I have to get a second seat? Just joking. What I would like to know can I go thru that total body scan. Iv'e read if you go thru it in 10 sec. I heard don't let them use scanner. I just hate the dreaded pat down. Any comments :-)

scanner is no problem

I used the scanner in Vegas this month for the first time with my pm. I was done before my husband was going thru the metal detector. tI was so quick I did not even think about it at all. I would choose that over a pat down if I had the choice.

Only if you carry it in a base violin case.

Before I remembered about the thing, I walked through several detectors & The did nothing. I've also been wanded & the people who did it were intelligent - they kept the wand away from where my PM is located. I s'pose if you get a real dork for a TSA agent, they'll wand the daylights out of that spot.

Another comment on pat downs

Man alive - the last thing I want is a pat down. You get the wrong POW camp guard for a TSA agent & he/she will hurt you right where the PM is. Most folks are curious about what a PM looks like & when I show my very clearly noticeable lumps they kinda shrink away. I offer kids the opportunity to feel it & they are tentative in their exploration.

But... you grab that thing or press on it too hard & it hurts! Even after 8 years ago Thurs, 3 Feb.

new scanners are safe

They're fast and easy! I've used them a dozen times now. I tell them I have the pm when they check id because some airports are using both types and I want to be sure to end up in the new scanner's line.

I don't like to take chances with my PM especially if I go away in vacation...it won't be a vacation anymore. I use my id card (the hospital issues one right away), then the manufacturer sends you one.
I show it at every airport customs. I did travel all over Canada, US and Europe, including some little islands in Greece and they all know the procedure. In Europe and local (Canada) flights they did not do the pat down. In Canada they did the wand but took care not to go near the PM. In Europe, none of it. In US, they did the pat down, but it was just a formality. It took them more to look into the heels of my shoes than the pat down. Now, mind you they did not have a woman available right away and so I asked "for a hot young guy!" Jokingly of course, but they did the perfunctory pat down in the open.... So whatever you do be safe and don't take chances to ruin your trip!

You know you're wired when...

You run like the bionic man.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
