Cardio Block

I would like to hear from some people that have a pacemaker due to Cardio block. How long you've had it? How you feel on a day to day basis? Your history with your pacemaker.

My heart is strong, no blockages, just my electrically system went haywire.

Total heart block

I just got mine end of November 2010 for a total heart block while in the hospital for other car accident-related injuries. My electrical system went haywire when the force of the seatbelt fractured my sternum and bruised my heart, apparently. I had no symptoms during the heart block, as I was sleeping at the time, and I have no symptoms now (which I guess means it's working).

Same here...

Received my pacemaker in September 2010. I was fine, hiking, working out, etc. until I had a blackout in June, lightheadedness intermittently after that and another blackout in September. It was caused by heartblock (I had three conduction blockages) which I wish they could have discovered sooner. They implanted a pacemaker in September, the day after the second syncope.
I feel really good. Have been working out and skiing quite alot and no apparent cardio issues. I will say that it took a few months to start building endurance back to where I feel physically strong again.
I don't know if these devices adapt to your activity level but it seems that it's working better the longer I have it. By that I mean I no longer have any racing when I exercise. It just goes to the rate it needs to and then resumes normal at the end of the workout.
Good luck with yours. Keep the faith, build yourself up and hopefully all will be well.

I was born with my complete heart block, no other problems. I've had a pm since 1993, I'm on my 4th. I feel fantastic, live a full active life. Most people don't even know I have a problem.

You know you're wired when...

You’re officially battery-operated.
