i am new in this

Hi, got my first PM implanted in July with an AV node ablation one week later. After complaining about the pain and being uncomfortable with the site of implantation (could feel the edge of the PM under my arm), getting dizzy and lightheaded, it was finally "detected" that the PM is malfunctioning. I collapsed on Christmas day, rushed to hospital, heartbeat between 40-110. An intravenous PM was put in my neck to keep my heart going. Got a new one implanted on the right side (my dominant side).

The site is great, no complaints but dizzy and no energy and sleeping on the left side keeps me awake because of the heart hammering, on my back I am fine. But my head is not right. Can anyone can relate to this? I try to cope and be optimistic...also I want to play my cello again. Wonder if the implant will hinder my bowing arm?  We want to go to Korea in February to see our grandson graduate.

Thinking of you

I can so relate! Whilst slightly different situation I'm having problems with my PM and sleep isn't easy or comfortable either. No matter my position just can't get comfy. When its time to get up I usually have a thumping headache. In the last couple of days tried sleeping without a pillow and, early days, it seems to help.
Hope its some comfort to know you're not alone.

I'm a half glass full type of girl so always positive. and- I have everything crossed for you to see your grandson graduate. x

Problems

I had my implanted in Dec.. Two weeks later I had to have the main lead reattached. Now when ever I do anything I feel like someone is sitting on my chest. I was supposed to go back to my Dr this past Tues but I was snowed in. I have an appointment next Tues. Sleeping isn't a problem for me but your mind really can run with this stuff.

thanks, milrose, for you comment. I'm a half glass full type of girl as well. I try to keep positive - eventhough often not so easy. I have tried to sleep without a pillow and put one of those beanbags (warmed) in my neck. Seems to work for a while and then I have to shift again onto my back. Can't sleep on left side because my heart hammers away. Thank you for "crossing everything" for my grandson's graduation. Just a little nervous about the 11 1/2 hours flight to seoul. but I have another interrogation next week and hopefully all will be well. yes it's good to "talk" and know I am not alone.
