you guys are great

thank you all for your comments. you give me courage. tomorrow I will phone and ask to come in and have it "turned down" to 70. This will be a "happy medium" between the 60 I had and the 80 the EP set last week. It's really 'propelling" me all day and especially in the night. I yearn for some "slow" time where I can relax. it needs to be delt with. It is so good to just get it off your chest. it was 4 in the morning when I wrote and my husband was snoring happily. I could not sleep and started to wonder if I was too sensitive and if I was funny in my head.. these last 5 months (2 PM's) have not been easy for my husband as well. boy, he has patience like Job but he wants it done too - sooon.
hopefully it will be done this week. we want to fly to korea for our grandson's graduation. I should be fine.
again, everyone, thanks

What are you?????????

You did not answer my question - WHAT IS (or WAS) your normal HR before implant.

You are obviously something less than 80, or you would not feel "Propelled."

Go find your normal rate & ask to be paced as close above that as they can set it.

80 is based on a statistic. YOU are not a statistic; you are a unique human being, w/ a unique set of operating parameters. One of them is your normal HR. You wanna feel normal, go back to that.

Till he proves it to you, if any doc tells you you'll feel better at some artificial rate HE likes, go find another doc. He's an egotistical, elitist, know-it-all SOB who looks at his patients as too dumb to know anything & doesn't listen to his patients.

Hi don,
thanks for your post. Before I got the PM my HR was 68-72. I phoned the doc today and no answer. I asked to come down and have it set to 70 but silence today. If I don't hear from him tomorrow, I will phone again and again. Just one more question: My BP shot up into the 170/99+ after he turned "up the heat" to 80. He wants me to be a BetaBlocker, but I wonder if my BP would come down naturally if my HR would be lowered. I really try to be upbeat but sometimes it is difficult. even my resting HR is now around in the 90's.
thanks don

HR Turned Down

by donb - 2011-01-24 10:01:14

Hi Veronica, I can't imagine trying to relax with my HR at 80. I've been chugging along at 60 resting for 18 years and only get above that while trying to get to sleep if anxiety sets in. My resting HR even stayed locked in at 60 for 2 months without a PM. I know from my experience that my normal heart rhythm needs time to get synced in with my PMs'. My 3rd PM was set at 130 top end and my treadmill endurance was not as good as with my 4th PM with 120 limit. Also my 3rd had RR turned on and my 4th RR now is off. I only had my 3rd PM less than 2 years as it eroded. So, all in all I have been very fortunate with PM settings (knock on wood). donb
