Qestion?

I had my pacemaker implant in March 2010. I have been noticing some tenderness and soreness around the pm area. Has anyone else experienced that?

What does your incision site look like?

I'm curious if your incision site is perfectly flat and almost invisible or, is it raised up, the scar widened and a little puffy? Some of us react differently to our skin being cut and we develop scar tissue called Keloids. My incision site from time to time does get a bit itchy and sometimes sore but I also am a person who does develop keloids to a mild degree. I've had the same reaction twice before after surgeries and it runs in my family. Has anyone else in your family had similar problems?

I know from past surgical experience that my PM incision site will eventually stop itching and the sporadic pain will go away as it did in cases before. Check with your doctor and see what he/she says.

soreness

If it is hot to the touch, red, puffy, streaky, or oozing get it checked out immediately. It's unusual but not impossible to become infected long after implant. Or it could be muscle soreness that's irritating it, did you do something new recently? Mine was bothering me once and I finally realized it was the Wii, I got a little crazy trying to beat the kids' high score on something and the repetitive motion made it a little irritated.

Skyking, it's not the norm but we've had other members with the same issue, it stays sensitive. Hopefully it will eventually go away!

If this is new then I'd

I get sore...

...after returning to the gym after some time off. I figure it's the PM bouncing around and tearing a bit inside its "pocket." It goes away after a a while...I don't think about it much.

tenderness

I've had my pacemaker since Nov 2010, and my pacer site is still tender. I do repetative motion with my arms at work and work out at the gym. I'm sure with my job and the gym it may cause it to be tender with all the movement. I have a friend that told me that his pacemaker site was tender for almost a year. Oh well it certainly is better than the altermative.

Take care, and keep on pacing!!!!
