event monitor

Hello friends, just wondering if anyone has worn an event monitor? I went in for my check up and came home with an event monitor.  I have to wear it for 30 days. I have worn heart monitors before but not this type. Dr discussed stronger meds or possibly an ablation. I have had 4 already.

Hi. I am due to have my 2nd event recorder this Thursday (10th), for a week. I had one for a week last year. Not looking forward to it as last time my chest got very sore from the ECG lead stickers. Do they do hypoallergenic ones? I'm going to ask on Thursday.

Do you have to download your readings? On the one I had last year I had to download over the phone, every 10 recordings.

Hope you get on ok with it.

Best wishes

Hi Elaina,
Thanks for responding. Just curious. How did your event recorder turn out? Did they find out anything?

Hi, Thanks for responding. Please let me know if they do give you the hypoallergenic ones. Thats is the part I hate those sticky pads they make my skin raw.
I have to download reads in the phone after 10 recordings.
How did yours turn out from the first one you wore? Did they find anything out?

Thanks, tinac

Hi Tinac
Thank you for your reply. Yes,my last recorder last year was successful in that I recorded over 60 episodes of my "symptoms" in a week & it confirmed to my EP that I had either inappropriate sinus tachycardia or atrial tachycardia....as my HR was shooting up when I got my symptoms. Apparently it is very hard to distinguish between the 2 types until you do an EP study, & that is eventually how my EP confirmed I had atrial tachycardia. I had an ablation for it last July.

I have to have this 2nd recorder now as since my ablation (which initially appeared to be successful), I have been getting various symptoms including sudden, fast heart rates while at rest (ie not on exertion), chest pain, breathlessness & now blue lips! I've also had dizziness since the ablation & my EP thinks that is a BP problem as my BP is dropping on exertion (it should go up!!). But he wants to see if my other symptoms (apart from the dizziness) are due to either my initial arrythmia coming back or due to a different arrythmia. I just hope I get my symptoms during the week I'm on it & manage to record them.

What do your Dr's hope to record on your monitor? Can I ask also what were your ablations for? Which arrythmia?

Good luck with your monitor. I will let you know about the hypoallergenic stickers etc. I just HOPE they do them. I live in the UK.

Best wishes
Janey

i just got the monitor like 2 days ago. They don't think they will find anything cause they think my dizziness is caused by something in my brain or something. but they want to rule out everything else first.
