not happy

Hello

I had a pacemaker fitted just 2 weeks ago, but not until after I went through a bad experience.  When the doctors attempted to enter my vein, they punctured my subclavian artery, and I had to be rushed into another theatre for emergency surgery.  Has anybody ever come across anything like this before?  Is it a common occurrence?

So sorry

Hi Hammer,

So sorry this happened to you. I can't believe that someone made such a huge error, but I read about medical errors all the time. You must be frightened beyond belief. If possible, I would try to find another cardiologist to do your follow-up adjustments. Maybe someone with more experience, gray hair or something! Going back to the same person will just aggravate your trauma that much more. Maybe others here can talk more about a puncture of an unintended artery or vein.

Take care,
Amy S.
