Medtronic Enrhythm P1501DR

Hi all,

I'm about ten weeks out from aortic valve replacement where I got the Medtronics Enrhythm pacer thrown in as a little Christmas surprise due to heart block. Anyway, at about 6 weeks my cardiologist gave me the all clear to start rehab and even start running when I felt up to it. I knew nothing about the pacer at that time and asked if this was all seamless as I started running my increased heartrate would just follow. He says no problem. After a little research on my own, I put together that the range on the pacer was 60-140, which I quickly butted up against when I tried to run a bit. I requested this be adjusted up and got approval to go up to 170. At my appt the nurses couldn't get the software to work so had to call into the vendor who told them it could only be adjusted up to 150 without some additional software, which would then allow it to set up to 170 but that was it. I'm a little frustrated with the apparent lack of understanding within the cardiology department of the operation of this, but I'm also beginning to wonder if this is even the right pacer for me. As my wife says, I don't need to be going above 170, but my point is why would I have this limitation anyway? Am I the guinea pig here for this device? They've apparently never had to do this before for this device. Maybe there is some obvious answers, but it doesn't seem clear to me yet.

any thoughts?

Thank,s

are you pacemaker dependent? If not I don't see why your heart rate should not be able to go up as high as it did before. My pacemaker only stops my heart from going down below 50bpm. I'm not aware that any top is set on mine. Or am I wrong on this. It has a tracking rate at 120 due to my age but nothing else.
