Anyone else lose their cdl over their pacemaker/de

Hi, I am looking for anyone who might no where I can get information on losing your cdl license because you got a pacemaker and a defib. My uncle just recently had to have both put in and he is very sad/depressed over losing his CDl/livelyhood! I am trying to find other who have been through the same thing so he can have someone to talk to about it. Thanks-

Hi, I drove a city bus when my PM was installed. They did not have a problem with it. My physical changed from every 2 years to every year. The medical Drs., doing the yearly physical, did not have a problem it either. Good luck I hope it all works out.

Also Do you know, can you qualify for full time dissability in the states with the circumstances?

CDL

FYI.....I was doing some research on CDL's and having Pacemakers, according to the DOT Physical guidelines having a pacemaker is not grounds for losing CDL, however having a defibrillator IS!!! If he has an ICD he will have to surrender his CDL. It is because he could pass out from the shock whenever it happens. Also I noticed some other folks adding comments asking what state? It doesn't matter what state your CDL is issued from, this is a DOT policy (federal regulation) If you GOOGLE DOT physical requirements you can see for yourself, they give a complete list of ailments and disorders that will get you disqualified. Hope this helps and tell your uncle that this isnt the end of the world, just time for a career change.

thanks
