Hi
I have similar problem - tachy/brady with afib. The PM does not help the afib. Usually afib is addressed by medication or ablation. The doc managed my afib with Sotalol and for me it is a great help. I hardly noticed afib for the last 2 years. However I must point out that many members on this site have shared their experience of a poor tolerance with Sotalol. I was fortunate I did not experienced any side effects described by the others. So the side effects depend much on individual tolerance. There are other alternative betablockers besides Sotalol, which the doctors may prescribed. Of course ablation is also alternative method to deal with the afib.

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
