arrhythmia Log

Could someone explain how the arrhythmia log works as it processes the information it receives from the heart. I have a 1283 Guidiant model. Jan

Arrhythmia Log

by SMITTY - 2009-05-04 10:05:04

Hi Jan,

If you are up for guesses, I'll offer one. I would say your PM (as do many brands) monitors your heart for episodes of arrhythmia (and other disturbances) and stores the information obtained from one of these anomalies on a recording chip in the PM. This log can then be downloaded during a checkup. It is during or after the download when the actual processing takes place and the data is converted into to something that is meaningful to the doctor.

Now one more guess. The person that laid the term "arrhythmia log" on you was just trying to show off their superior pacemaker knowledge because the figured you wouldn't know what they were talking about. I'll admit I don't know for certian, but as you can see I'm not shy about guessing.

Good luck,

Smitty

I need more information

I was having more problem as the days went by and wondering what could possibly be wrong with me. My pacemaker had been turned off to survival mode as I had been getting ill. So I thought everything was off and then I saw a read out with the arrhythmia log on and I went back into the clinic and asked to have it shut off. With in a day my blood pressure went down, the odd spells stopped and most of the rat-tat-noise stopped. I think I must still have a dignostic of some kind on as everyday i have this rat-tat-tat like morris code and no one has as explanation. I have made plans to have Cleveland Clinic review all my information and if they can give me some answers I will then make an appointment. I had the log turned off about 2 or 3 years ago and thought it was off and because the pace checker says it is impossible for it to give me problems turned it back on with out telling me. I had told my son in early 2007 I was done arguing with them and I would just not do anything very active. So at xmas of 2007 i told them we would have a family party and if i didn't feel well they would have to take over. So time passed and I would just stop what I was doing if I had a spell. Finally it was getting me down and when I went in for a check up after I left i saw the log was on again. I went back the next week and insisted they turn it off and I have not had any more spells. I have no idea the relationship but this is the second time this has happened. Anyone with any ideas.
