short of breath & tired

First out of the hospital felt great and had plenty of go power...After first check up my tech made some 'minor' changes and I now have shortness of breath and loggyness after only minor efforts.

Will be going in shortly and wondering what questions I should be asking tech/doctor to get back on track

New Pacemaker Questions

Hello Bernie,

Welcome to the Pacemaker Club.

My first impulse is to tell you to go in and ask for the original settings since they worked so well. But knowing that we sometimes have some first-time settings that may not be good for us over the long haul and need to be changed I would be hesitant to ask for those original settings without knowing more about them.

With that though in mind I would ask to see a copy of the printout that was made of that first checkup. It will show what changes were made. These will be marked by (>). You can then ask specific questions about each change.

If neither of those suggestions is viable, then I would suggest that you make a list of the items that are bothering you, especially those items that have made themselves known since your checkup.

I'm sure others will have suggestions, but maybe these can help for starters.

Good luck,

Smitty

Don't underestimate the that PM settings can affect your feelings of well being. You will need to be assertive with your doctor and PM technician and let them know exactly how you are feeling. This is not the time to be stoic or suffer in silences!

After my recent PM swap my medical professionals decided to "help" me by turning up my rate response so everytime I took a step my heart would be off to the races. I hated the feeling that my heart would be beating so fast and it also made me feel short of breath. I'm not saying that is necessarily what is causing your shortness of breath, just that PM setting changes can make you have a lot of weird symptoms.

Glad you'll be going in shortly and hopefully they will having you feeling better than new when you explain how you are feeling since the latest change!

Ask about the latest research...

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
