Hello, all, I am new to the PaceMaker Club and have a St. Judel PM that was installed Jan. 06. My PM was installed due to bradycardia and electrical impulses not firing correctly in the lower changer, as what I recall what the cardiac surgeons told me. The doctors and tech told me that the battery life is usually five years from insertion. Therefore, I go to a tech monthly now to have it checked. The number she gives to me is 2.6, and my understanding is that it has to be at a 2.5 level before insurance will pay their part for the replacement PM. I have not had any problems with my PM and healed very quickly following the insertion. I had recent surgery and the PM was adjusted, both before and after surgery--something to do with magnets in the OR.?? Since then, I feel the PM pacing once or twice a day. That never happened before. Called the PM tech today and have an appointment to have it checked in four days. Has this happened to anyone else?

I feel mine every day

I feel mine every time it kicks in. I have only had mine for a month, so I'm not sure if that is normal. I've added it to my list of questions to ask my doc next time I see him (next week).

I did read another post about a week ago from someone who said they had a sort of thumping feeling and that was due to a nerve responding to the pacemaker. That's how I would describe mine too - a little tiny thumping - like someone is tapping underneath my left breast from inside my chest. But it's not painful and I am starting to get used to it.

I feel so blessed to have this little gem implanted in me. When I think of the alternative it is quite overwhelming sometimes.
