going to pacemker lab..

tomorrow (6/17/11). Had a PM inserted 6/7/11 so I have had it 10 days. What do they do during these tests? Test to make sure it is working? Can they determine if leads have seated into heart tissue? Do they tweak adjustments? I feel generally ok but still have some light-headedness which was my most common symptom of brachacardia which is the reason I got the PM. I guess I won't see the cardiologist-- just asppointment at PM laboratory. Any advise you might give me would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

tests

You probably already had it tested and didn't know it! They usually do it before we leave the hospital. Sometimes they tweak the settings but usually they just check it and run reports. Sometimes they run diagnostics that feel a little funny, a bit like the feeling when an elevator comes to a stop.

If the leads weren't seated in the heart tissue, it would not be pacing.

If you're having symptoms, be sure to tell them. Tweaking the settings can often fix it.

Dizzy spells

I had dizzy spells but after my first interrogation they went away. Things will keep improving for 6 months.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
