4 Kilometer race

Has anybody tried running a four kilometer race with a pacemaker? It is part of the Cochin Marathon (for those aged above 60 years). I would like to try.

I tried but the Pacemaker won.
Sorry, I just had to do it.

Best of luck with the race.

What Cathryn said, if your dr says it's ok and you feel up to it, go for it. We have plenty of members who do half marathons, full marathons, triathletes. There have even been Olympic athletes with a pm. Simply having a pm is not a reason not to do any sport. I'm signed up for a 5k with obstacle courses next month! I work out a lot but am not a runner so we'll see how it goes. If it wasn't being put on by my gym and for AHA, I'd probably be chicken to try.

Do it!

Get you doc's clearance first. I had a Boston Scientific implanted in January, and have completed two olympic distance triathlons this summer. I am attempting a half Ironman this weekend . I age up to the 70-74 age group next year & have entered Ironman Tx in May 2012 to celebrate. As long as you feel up to it and the doc says OK, go for it.

Just Do It !!

If your Medics tell you its ok to run...then its ok !!

I'm 61...PM for 13 months, started running again after a few weeks. I think this stuff has much to do with confidence...dont forget that its about the doing not the winning...its ok to be last !

Take care Tattoo Man

I was more than bit despondent when I had to have my PM fitted last Sept however post the op I saw it as a challenge to get back out on th road and into the pool again. I no longer see the PM as restrictive. I was proud of my achievements but when I read about what you're doing I'm blown away. Thanks for the motivation. I'm putting on my shoes and going for a run right now.

You know you're wired when...

You have a T-shirt that reads “Wired4Sound”.
