1wk check up

Hello all, i am definitely new to this whole world and never new there were so many others with pacemakers and defib units until i ended up getting one last week and started reseaeching so much about it. Today is my 1wk checkup and though i am anxious i am also a bit scarex cuz i dont know what to really expect. I kno they are also gonna do a chest xray to make sure everything is still in the proper place. My biggest question and concern is the 16 staples i have in my incision. Will they most likely be taking these out today? Other than on and off soreness recovery is going great. Cant wait to be able to move my arm and body completely like i used to before surgery. Thanks all and have found a great deal of info here already.

No biggie

First week check up is a no biggie. The chest xray will be used to check if the leads are in place along with checking to see if you have any water gain around your heart or lungs. Do check your weight every day and if you gain 5lbs or more, do call your doctor. That is a must if you haven't been told this. Staples? My doctor used tape. LOL cheap sucker. Those might get pulled, or some of them might. One week is a bit early. Arm movement, that will come in time which is different for everybody. Took me the better part of 6 weeks before I could lift my arm above my head, but I have a CRT-D with 3 leads and that is 3 times the size of just a PM. Mine is so big, it sticks out my chest an easy 1/2"x3". And yes, it is still a bit sore to the touch. A seatbelt over my shoulder is a BIG NO NO! So I clip the belt and slip the shoulder part over my head and let that part go to my back. I was checked one time and I just slipped my shirt down for the cop to see my problem. Did that sucker jump back or what! He told me sorry for the trouble and have a good day.

So, don't sweat the same things and hope everything goes good for you.

Nothing to worry about

All they do is cut your chest open followed by your heart wall so they can check out the lead attachments. LOL
