Heart Failure!

I agree with DD. It may well be true that I am at a higher risk of dying from CHF now that I have a pacemaker, but it just so happens that without my pacemaker I would actually already be dead.
I am happy for you Robin if you are either not with pacemaker or only atrially paced, but for many of us there were no options in whether we got a PM or not. I have had two extra years so far, to watch my son grow up a bit, that I would not have had without this wonderful bit of technology and hope it's many more!
There are many things in this world that we do or eat that may increase a risk of something, but life really is too short to spend time worrying about them.

May everyone on this site (and those that have not found it yet) life long and happy lives!

Lotti - you have heard about the risk of ventricular pacing that bypasses your conductoin system. If you want a normal, physiological contraction of the heart, ask your EP not to bypass the natural conduction system, rather, ask about His bundle pacing (look up the bundle of His on Google). If you don't like what your EP says, just let me know - perhaps a private note, and I can refer you to an EP who does place the lead's electrode at the His bundle pacing site.

Best wishes for a long and healthy life,
Terry
