re: PVCs

To whomever - thanks for the e-mail. To answer you, 150 setting was to accommodate my activity level since 120 was too low and the brakes went on. 130 was okay, 140 was okay but when I went to 150 - I could play golf and do everything else but that's when the pvcs started immediately. I am back at 130 level - guess what - NO PVCs - but I can't do everything now. The brakes go on. I require a higher setting because I am so active. I would rather play golf and get up a flight of stairs in the New York Subway. There has to be some connection and not merely a coincidental event! I will call St. Jude and see if they can give me an answer. I am only in need of a pacemaker because Vioxx destroyed the sinus node that transmits the signals from the right atrial to the right ventricle. Everything else works fine and I take no medication. Had a stress test with a halter monitor and no PVCs. Any info from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Upper limit and PVC's

I question whether your problem is PVC's. They originate in the ventricles and are self generating. Setting the limit lower only affects the maximum rate that the pacer can trigger the ventricles.

It would seem the extra beats would be originating from the pacemaker. This could be extra beats in the atrium triggering the pacer, or something like Rate Response being ON and misadjusted. Either could cause the pacer to add extra beats.
