You should not do anything like this for a few weeks. Your Dr. should have given you instructions that included restrictions on lifting your hands above your head for some period of time and you certainly cannot do either of these things during that period.

To be safe, get on the phone and call your EP or Nurse and ask.

hi! :D

You sound like my kind of friend, an Adventurist!

I have been skydiving, but it was before I got the PM. My cardiologist doesn't recommend it for me now. Something about pulling out leads on a possible hard landing.

Ziplines? Well I have Ziplined and it was the best of times! I didn't have any issues with my PM. I did have to climb a jungle mountain first, but it was easy. I worked out plenty to build muscle in my legs and arms before the trip. I never enjoyed anything more than the Zipline tour. The harness supported me and I simply used my hands (with gloves) to hold onto the cable and break. My trip was a full day excursion into the jungle in Pureto Rico. I would go again in a heartbeat if I could!

I can hardly wait to see the picture of your trip.
Have some fun, use your common sense and share the pictures!

Cheers!

Do it!

I've had an Icd for almost three years and I barefoot water ski. Started 3 months after I got my implant - no problems yet! I say if you feel like it do it! You just might have to be careful how you place the strap of the parachute backpack but other then that all should be ok!

Zipline

Activities like zipline, sky diving or even bungee jumping are high adrenaline activities. The high adrenaline makes the heart to pump blood faster and may be 5 times faster beats than normal time. Thus it is prescribed to avoid such activities initially as it takes time for the pacemaker to adjust to your body.

I bought my Harley 4 months after my pm was implanted. My EP told me he never tells his patients they can't do something. My cardiologist however said it was crazy to ride. I never stopped, so now it's just something we don't discuss.

post Dr appt.

Thanks for all your input. Im now 8 wks post pm and Dr. told me to do whatever I want as long as I feel good doing it. He gave me to the go signal for zipline and skydiving. However, he said "why would you want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane". lol I also resumed Zumba today and did just fine. Im very happy to be able to relate this to anyone wishing to do these things. By the way , I will be 70 in a couple months....go granny!

Good

You did the right thing and got your Dr.'s approval first. Now go enjoy!!!!

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
