Thumping

Hi,
16 days past implant and had a thumping session that lasted for 2-3 minutes.

Was at a grape festival and had been waiting in a line in the heat for ~30 minutes. Then went to sit in car and wait for Husband. While sitting there I started to feel 2 or 3 thumps at a time then a few seconds of no thumps , then this repeated for 2- 3 minutes. No pain. Should I contact the doc about this??

We don't kow anything other than you had something happen. Coud be innocuous - could be serious. And - we do not know what you mean by a "Thump."

How did you feel otherwise? Lightheaded? aches or pains? Especially in the chest? Pulse rate? Anxiety level? Weak? Has it happened since? For a longer time? Shorter time? Did you also feellike your heart "Skipped a Beat"?

Actually, the best way to learn what is of consequence is to talk to your cardio about these sort of things.

Could be a thing called a PVC (Premature Ventricular Contraction) That can give you the sensation of a THUMP the first time it happens to you. With PVC's, & they are very common post PM, (Smitty just wrote a long, instructive post on his experiences w/ PVC's) and are very disconcerting when you first experience them.

At this point in your career as a PM Host, you naturally have a latent, heightened anxiety level that makes you a bit hyper alert to any minor (or major) occurrence that has to do w/ your heart.

If you lived to write about it, w/no aftereffects, it probably was nothing. Bt -call the cardio today if you are concern=ed & Mon if you feel comfortable waiting till then.

BTW: Been a PM Host for 8 1/2 yrs. BTDT, Have that tee shirt, along w/ the rest of us here.

It's probably nothing serious but you have a pm with a memory that holds a certain number of incidents. The sooner you get in to be checked after something odd like this, the better the chances of them figuring out what it is. Be sure to tell them the exact date and time.

Thanks for your replies. Just talked to the nurse and she didn't seem too concerned. She said it could have been an early heartbeat episode in which people describe a thump
sensation. She said to call if it got worse or continued and they would check it out.
