looking at another surgery- merry fn Christmas!

just came back from the pacemaker clinic,
seems my lead might have moved as it is drawing increasingly higher amounts of current from the pacemaker. it was .85 in Oct 2010, then 1.85 in January 2011, 2.25 in July and now it was 3.85 but needed to be bumped to 4.50 to maintain the 2:1 safety ratio they insist on at the hospital.
If this doesnt make sense to anyone- my lead has moved, its sucking the battery of the pacemaker- so they are looking to do a lead replacement surgery. Another surgery!!! after all the bs i have gone through, the pain, the misery, the complications and now this. And they say its probably been badly placed since after the surgery when I had all my complications but they didnt want to move it then...

Honestly, not the news i wanted a few days before Christmas.
But i will put it into perspective and try not to dwell on the fact that I am now at the complete mercy of a piece of machinery the size of a small disk sitting in my chest ... This thing honestly has changed my life and not for the better. For some people it has, and I am thankful for that. Many people benifit. I seem to be the one that gets to suffer.

Sorry for the rant, just needed to vent. Comments are welcome, even the shut up and be grateful kind..

Have a good day all

Bloc,,, so very sorry to hear that you will have to have another surgery so soon and yes lousy timing to receive this news. I thought once leads were "secure", they would not move. This all new to me as I have only had my PM for 4 months. I too am heading back to the cardiologist next week, to see what is up with my PM pacing when I am driving.

I am not sure how long you have had your PM, but I think there is a learning curve to all of this. Learning to live with the changes (mostly positive for me) in our physical and emotional well being.

I wish you the strength to accept the changes and all the the best of luck in this next surgery. Hopefully all will be well when they sort out the lead.

Merry Christmas!!

Hey Bloc, ,,,Just wondering if you have heard anything more if you had to have your surgery again??

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.
