Aftercare? haha

so i'm a fortnight post implant now and to be honest i'm getting a little bit annoyed by the fact that people in the cardio department keep lying to me! i got told when i left hospital that a follow up appointment had been made for me on the 4th of october a i'm due to go abroad on the 7th. I was also told that my ID card with the type of pacemaker etc would get sent to me with the appointment card in the next few days.

So after a week of nothing arriving i phoned to be told it's definitely on it's way, phoned again today to check if it IS definitely in the post as it really shouldn't take that long just to be told that they haven't even made an appointment for me yet and my card is yet to be processed! GRR! has anyone else experienced anythiing like this?

I understand that these people are extremely busy but i really don't appreciate being lied to since they were obviously just telling me what i wanted to hear.
Thanks

I got my temporary card when I left the hospital after PM put in 8/23 & have already recieved my permanent card from Boston Scientific with some extras too. they sent a nice laminated card to be given at airport about avoiding wand, etc. It is in English & several other languages. Not sure what you can do ambout making appointment except what you are doing. But if you know the name of comopany for PM, I'd look up in the web & call their 800 # to get card.

Good lucik,

Janet

Call them back

and ask to speak to the supervisor in charge of booking appointments....etc. Sometimes people in the same practice just don't communicate and you might have that appointment on the 4th and the card could be in the mail or post as you put it.. Ronaldo.... a general statement that does not apply to everyone on here. Most of us have had terrific follow up care from both the doctors and mgfrs of the pacers. Sue

I agree with Magster

Ronaldo this doesnt apply to most people anywhere. That was such a ignorant response to a post that Ive seen in awhile.
Sara I see you live overseas and I cant answer your question about aftercare over there, maybe someone will chime in. But I have never had bad care ever since this condition has happened to me, but like stated above I would ask for someone in charge or talk to your doctor about what has happened, if he or she doesnt know they cant correct it, sometimes you have to go to the top to take care of problems with office staff. Hope everything works out for you and you get it settled.

This can happen and often does, but most of us have had great follow up care. me included. I did get my card about a month later, but I didn't need it right away. Thankfully, I am a calm person. so it didn't annoy me. I would just talk to the doctor about the appt. There is always someone in charge you can go to and get results (I would hope). Just call and tell them when you want your appt. Or take the time to just go out and enjoy the day. I try to live my days as if it were my last. It could be and I wouldn't want to waste the day being angry. Imagine yourself going into heaven and telling the greeter that you are there, because you were upset with a person. not enough for me to go. Ann
