Houston I have a problem

I had an atrial lead revision in 2009 due to lead fracture. Since the beginning of December I have been having intermittent heart palpitation problems, eg on moving my left arm toward the right or lifting or pretty much doing anything apart from least strenuous(I express strenuous in lower case! very little) I feel it, as we know we all do, but I also feel it race into my neck. I really don;t want to have anything done again but maybe can someone tell me that this is a programming problem and a little 'tweak' will sort it out. Many thanks to you all.

Heart Palps

Hi.

I was just curious about your lead revision as it seems I may have a fractured lead or scar tissue has built up at the tip of the lead - either way, my pacemaker is being depleted of it's battery life rather quickly within the last 6 months. The EP in the PM Clinic said to come back in February to be re-interrogated....(as if this problem can somehow magically repair itself???).

Was your fractured lead removed or did they just slide another one in beside the fractured one? I'm a little anxious to say the least.

Now to your question....have you called your Cardiologist or EP or whoever takes care of your pacemaker? I'll not even venture a guess of what could possibly be making you feel how you described it above.

Can you call your PM Clinic and ask to be seen right away?

Perhaps, in the meantime, if you have to wait to be seen, you could ask your family doctor for a chest Xray, that could possibly show what's going on with your leads.

I agree with Pookie...a chest X-ray may show something if you can't get into your EP soon. The other thought that comes to mind would be with the RR. Do you have RR and is it on? Did you have any adjustments made in December? Have you checked your HR when this is happening to see if you are outside of your ranges? Not sure if that would tell you anything. I know when I think something is up, I first go to my cuff to see what my HR is. Just a few ideas but I would get it checked sooner than later.

heading to my main sub hospital in Letterkenny in donegal Ireland, all my pacemakers have been done in Dublin.

I will post tomorrow after my visit. fingers crossed, I just hope it is not another lead revision and just a matter of programming, although I think the latter is what I think.

Hi all,

it seems that the connector for the atrial lead to the generator box is loose, all though it will have to be verified in Dublin and I waiting on word back from there.

So I guess they will change the generator as it five years old this month.

Yes I have RR on and I am pacemaker dependent. This the second problem with a lead and one generator failure.

Will give a update later.

they extracted the old lead

I know they had alot of problems as it was very difficult not right sure in lay terms what they said, but I think they had to slide it under the old one someway and they remove the old one...

Just expect to be a little sorer than normal as I had had four generator replacements before but that was the first lead. Now this is the 2nd,

Can someone tell me is there a problem with leads now, mine both were medtronic and one with insulation breech and now this with a connector problem.

Anyone else have lead problems?
