Fractured lead continously

I am 25 years old I had my first pacemaker implanted when I was 1 day old and it was fine however since i got into my teenage years I have had to have a pacemaker more and more frequently due to fracturing the lead I had another pacemaker on Friday where I had a third lead added to the two leads already implanted. Does anyone else have this problem with fracturing there leads?????

How many actually fractured? It sounds like one, which isn't bad for their age. The average age for them is 15-20 years. They can go longer or less than that but they don't last forever. I too had a fractured lead that meant several pm's with very short life. I got a third lead last time and now it's fine and I'm back to a normal expectancy of 8-10 years.

While children do get pacemakers, a problem is that leads don't "grow" as they do. I would ask your doctor about fracturing, but it may be that an older lead had to be replaced because you "outgrew" it. That is not at all unusual for people who grow up with pacemakers.

Thank You for replying I have had a few lead fractures I seem to fracture it every year for the last two years the one before that was 2 years I was lucky with the one before that with it last 5 years and when growing up was fine needed changing every three years due to growing so that was ok. I'm hoping this one lasts as I am pacemaker dependant and get so sick of being in hospital Thanks for saying your three leads have been sucessful I'm hoping the same for mine.
