I have a Merlin - land line type

I don't know what's to like or dislike. Just sort of sits there. I keep it in my study, and finally stuck it behind my printer to get it out of the way.

I haven't taken it when I travel. Too much wiring to fool with.

St. Judes can be criticized for not giving us each a means to log in to directly examine our own data. I believe this oversight constitutes a violation of medical ethics.

almost 1 year now

Yes, I received my implant 12/1/2010. I have the corded device. It just sits by my bedside, no noise, very well behaved. I am curious about the data received. Most of the time I forget it is even there. Jen

I agree with sfbaywalk, I don't bother taking Merlin with me when I travel. St. Jude has never called me when I am out of range so I don't worry about it. I have going on a cruise for 8 days in Dec. so we will see if the St. Jude folks notice that I have not been downloaded or uploaded for a week at a time.

There is a good question that was raised about the data not being available to us now that we are monitored by Merlins. I wonder where that might lead.

I find that the little light works well as a night light in my room, considering I'm afraid of the dark :) it does come in handy.

I miss the personal connection with the pacemaker clinic and being able to ask questions, but it does not make any noise, but is it really monitoring there is no way to find out, I would like to be able to see heart rates on it I will be going to Florida in Feb. and do not plan on taking it with me...I know there are times I am in a heart flutter, wonder if it is picking that up... thanks for the comments

Merlin monitor

My husband has one on his night stand. He had the pacemaker implanted 9/2011. We went to the clinic and they told us he had been in A fib for two weeks. I thought the purpose of the constant monitoring was so we would find out right away if anything abnormal
occurred. I was disappointed.

thank you for your comment JBRAIA, I also have been in A-fib and my merlin has not sent anything to my clinic, I am very disappointed in merlin, and might as well send it back and not depend on it.
