Pacer wound 2 weeks old and draining fresh blood..

Hello, I'm back yet again. I got my pacer implanted two weeks ago tomorrow. I was in the bath and soap up around the wound, then pat the spot with a soapy wash rag and rinse. When i was drying off, I was patting around it with a towel when i noticed some creamy discharge. I thought it was left over soap and wiped it up. Went back to patting around and over it to dry it then i noticed fresh blood draining from the corner. Is this normal? I plan on calling the cardio in the morning to double check.

I posted a picture in the Member gallery, it looks a ton better than the picture i posted right after my one week check up.

compared to your first pic. My pacer site opened a bit like yours but the blood was obviously old blood that was draining from it and it was not in the least bit red. I don't know that it is urgent to call tonight I myself would wait til morning but then i would have to take the bus to get to the hospital if the doctor wanted to see me. and the buses stop running at midnight so I would have no way but walking to get back home. I would call first thing in the AM if it still looks inflamed. my incisions felt so much better after they opened and started draining. Ihave had to pacer incisions ope a bit like yours and both times they felt better for it. Do you have any fever? I would think if ther was infection your temperature would rise. I was given neosporin to put on the first opening of the incision. The second time i just put a bit of neosporin that I had left over as a just in case it had the neosporin was only a couple of months old so it was still good.

I do not have a fever. I was given two rounds of antibiotics by IV before I left the hospital. I was also sent home on doxycycline antibiotic by mouth twice a dayfor seven days. I just finished that round last Saturday. I know it is still some what swelled but not red.

I'm going to call them first thing in the morning. I have ran upon a few people who said fluid gathered around their pacemaker and incision. They said it had to be drained but everything was fine after that.
