A drink after a walk ?

Hi Marilyn .... I am wondering why you have any concerns about walking after 8 days.. presumably you walked out of the hospital after having the PM ?

Having a PM installed is usually a minor surgical procedure and I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't be walking from Day 1 unless you have medical conditions which you didn't mention. The only limitations on your activity should be not lifting your arm above shoulder level for the first couple of weeks or so, or until it is comfortable to do so..

Like you I enjoy a drink ( or two) and resumed my normal drinking habits the night I got home from the hospital . The wine that evening tasted great ! Providing you haven't been given any new drugs which may interact with alcohol then resume your drinking.. and enjoy !

I hope you have a swift recovery

Walk

You should be walking unless as mentioned above you have health issues beyond just the pm surgery. I just had a new pm, 2 new leads, and 3 leads extracted and the next morning they had me up and moving and sent me home 24 hours later. Only restrictions were with my arm and no driving for 5 days. You want to get up and move otherwise your recovery will just take longer.

exercise immediately but you can't lift your "PM arm" over your head. For 6 weeks you need to let those leads heal. You can do cardio however!!

You can ride a recumbent bike, use an elleptical or walk immediately assuming you talk to your cardiologist about your exercise plans.

I highly advise cardio!

Booze in true moderation should not be a problem unless your meds suggest otherwise

Also that drink should be ok unless you are on meds that should not be interacted with alcohol.

Sure walking is something you can do right away. Listen to your body it will tell you how far to go.

Many medicines are impacted by grapefruit juice so don't drink anything that is mixed with that. I hate that because I love grapefruit.

A glass of wine is fine.

Good luck!

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
