TONCILITIS ~ ~ ~

Could this be from sleeping on your back with your mouth open at night and for long periods? This can dry your throat out to the point of hurting really bad for days.

Just wondering ~ It happened to me ~

thank you that is a relief! the hospital gave me paracetomol for the pacemaker pain and that seems to help my throat pain too so will continue with that for a couple more days - thanks for your help :D xx

I felt that too!

Hi Claire, I thought the exact same thing but it wasn't. I don't know why it happened and it went away after 3-4 days.

sore throat

if you were completely put to sleep for your operation then a breathing tube would have been inserted and perhaps that has irritated your throat.

try gargling with a bit of salt water to see if that helps.

and as far as being in pain after surgery - we all tolerate it differently, but if you are still in severe pain a week out, please call whatever doctor implanted your pacemaker and ask (demand) that you be seen.

it does get easier:)

I got my pacemaker close to two months ago, and I also thought I had tonsillitis for the first week or so after surgery.

update

Hi all, I thought I might add an update for anyone reading this thread in the future - so today is 6 days post op and my throat feels fine - yippee!

I dont know if it was a side effect of the antibiotics but I was told to take the antibiotics for 5 days including surgery day so 4 days post op was the last day of antibiotics and yesterday my throat was slightly better and today it is perfectly fine - thanks for all your comments and helping to put my mind at ease!

But I think it will make me feel a lot better. My stamina to walk is already better, even right after surgery. They had me walk all around the floor before they would release me. I did so without being exhausted and winded the way I had been.
